From Casablanca, Basic Instinct and The Breakfast Club to Grease, The Shining and even Pinocchio, smoking has been a guest star in some of the best cinematic classics. But what about vaping? Are there any famous movie scenes featuring vaporisers? We have found quite a few.

House of Cards: Kevin Spacey as Frank Underwood

House of Cards is one of the most-watched shows on Netflix — and it also happens to feature an informative vaping scene where Frank Underwood, the President of the United States (played by Kevin Spacey) is puffing on an e-cigarette at his office in the White House. The scene does not only give vaping some screen time — the character actually goes on to talk briefly about how vaping is different from traditional smoking when his wife criticizes his habit.

The Tourist: Johnny Depp as Frank Tupelo/Alexander Pearce

A lot of things that Johnny Depp does in his movies are memorable — and his character using an e-cigarette all the way back in 2010 was quite a statement. In the movie, Frank Tupelo is seen vaping on the train bound for Venice, Italy as he reads a spy novel. There is also a brief dialog in the movie dedicated to explaining the novice device in his hand:

Frank: Aha! Oh do you mind me smoking, it’s not a real cigarette, look! It delivers the same amount of nicotine, but the smoke is water vapor.

Drive Hard: John Cusack as Simon Keller

Drive Hard went beyond intriguing viewers with smoke clouds and actually showed the “backstage” of vaping. John Cusack’s character is seen with his vaping gear pretty much throughout the whole movie and there are several scenes that show him refilling the e-liquid and cleaning his vaporizer.

Two Broke Girls: hipsters vaping at the diner

Two Broke Girls, a famous CBS comedy, aired in 2011 and went on to have quite a successful run. In one of the episodes, there is a scene showing a group of hipsters vaping at a diner. What makes this one special is that it’s one of the rare scenes where vapers are using actual box mods and not simply e-cigarettes. There is a short dialog accompanying the scene as well briefly touching upon the fact that vaping is not the same as smoking.

Billions: pretty much everyone vapes in this series

Vaping gadgets, vaping scenes, and vaping dialogs appear quite a lot throughout the popular series, which has been renewed for a fifth season. One of the most memorable vaping scenes in the series is when Lara and Bobby Axelrod (played by Malin Ackerman and Damian Lewis) take a few hits off a Pax 2 weed vaporized before heading to a charity gala.

What are your favorite vaping scenes in movies? Which ones have done vaping the most justice?
